Institute of Exercise Physiology and Wellness

About

The Institute's Faculty and Lab Staff

The Institute of Exercise Physiology and Wellness (IEPW) is expanding its resources to produce one of the most advanced exercise performance and lab facilities in the country. Utilizing cutting edge technology as readily as it is available, our labs seek to collect and analyze data to efficiently and accurately accomplish research and further advance the field of exercise science. Led by Dr. Jay Hoffman, Dr. Jeffrey Stout, Dr. David Fukuda, Dr. Bradley Gordon, Dr. Adam Wells, and Dr. Jeanette Garcia, both graduate and undergraduate students have the opportunity to learn from the best while making strides to contribute to the field through publications and making essential contributions to research studies. Recently, the IEPW has expanded to the Burnett School of Biomedical Science which houses our Animal Research Facility. This new laboratory expands our ability to perform both translational and mechanistic studies investigating exercise and nutritional intervention during physiological challenges.

The Institute is a well-equipped facility with many advanced instruments and state-of-the-art equipment. Through our recent equipment acquisitions and expansive measures, we have taken what was formerly one lab facility and created four specialized laboratories that can focus on more specialized aspects of our research. Still, through our research we are always looking to further expand our resources to enable further exploration of exercise physiology and wellness.

  • Sport and Exercise Science's doctoral program was ranked 6th in the nation during its 2015 doctoral program review.
